A panel of experts is urging the province to cut taxes to BC businesses to encourage investment. Comox Valley MLA Don McRae says exempting businesses from the PST on capital expenses will help businesses become more competitive. “The Government of BC see it’s really important that British Columbia is both tax competitive and leading the nation in attracting the jobs,” states McRae. “When businesses have extra dollars to spend, they often invest in more employment, innovation, and growing their own businesses.” There’s no mention in the report about returning to the harmonized sales tax, which voters turned down in a referendum in 2011.
