Braidwood Project Receives Provincial Funding

BC Liberals are investing $3 million for a new affordable housing project in Courtenay. Mayor Larry Jangula says the rental units will be built on Braidwood Road. “Thanks to this funding, 34 much needed units of affordable housing will soon become a reality in our community,” states Jangula. “The Braidwood Project is a top strategic priority for the City of Courtenay Council.” Roger Kishi, with the Wachiay Friendship Centre, says the project is a long time coming. “We are very pleased to see that we can move forward with this, 34 units of supportive like housing here in the Comox Valley,” states Kishi. Construction is expected to start next summer, and expected to wrap up in the summer of 2018.
