BC Hydro set a record for water inflows into the Comox Lake reservoir over the past two months. Spokesperson Stephen Watson says the reservoir broke the previous record, dating back more than five decades. “We have a number of gauges up on the Upper Puntledge River watershed and at our Erik Creek gauge we had just over 900mm of rain,” states Watson. “But if we look back, BC Hydro records go back about 50 years and our water supply years go from October to September, so October and November were by far the wettest months we’ve had.” Watson says hydro is bracing for more rain with December typically being a stormy month.
