Premier Christy Clark has announced a plan to help struggling rural communities as part of a five-year update on the B-C Jobs Plan. She says the government has met 15 of its 19 targets set in 2011 — including moving the province from third spot to leading the country in economic growth. But she says challenges remain — including the risk posed to rural economies and natural resource industries by the global downturn in commodity prices. Clark says a Rural Development Strategy is being developed to come up with policy and investment initiatives to help rural communities.
