A Victoria-area farmer says he’s receiving a lot of unexpected attention following a quintessentially Canadian moment. Marko Kardum was pulled over by police Monday night while using his Zamboni to clear snow from a street in Central Saanich. The Good Samaritan was clearing the last patch when a police officer approached, saying they had received a call about someone trying to create a skating rink on the road. Kardum says the officer was entertained by the sight of the Zamboni, but asked him to go home because the vehicle doesn’t have the insurance required to operate on public roads.
