B-C senior’s advocate Isobel Mackenzie says a 500-million-dollar plan announced by the province means seniors in residential care facilities will have more baths, walks and bathroom breaks. Health Minister Terry Lake says the four-year plan will provide more than three hours of daily direct care each day to seniors in both public and private facilities. But N-D-P health critic Judy Darcy says the government has neglected seniors for 16 years and is only spending money now that a provincial election is on the horizon. More than 32-thousand seniors live in residential and assisted-living facilities in the province.
