Greater Victoria Harbour Authority says its taken major step toward establishing the city as a home port for cruise ships. The authority participated in the Seatrade Cruise Global trade show recently, and has set an aggressive goal of having a small or mid-sized cruise ship calling Victoria home by 2020. The authority’s chief executive Ian Robertson says the organization is working on raising the city’s profile, and has eight solid leads with cruise lines that may consider making Victoria their home port. If successful, the authority estimates that pre- and post-cruise tourism business could be worth 2-million dollars per ship excursion
