A large crowd braved stormy weather to pay tribute to the Abbotsford police officer killed on the job one week ago. A candlelight vigil was held in honour of Constable John Davidson, who was fatally shot after he responded to reports of a car theft and shots being fired at passersby. A full regimental funeral for the 53-year-old is set for next Sunday, including a procession of police officers and first responders with representatives expected from across the continent. An online fundraiser set up to raise money for his family has so far raised 130-thousand dollars — nearly three times its original goal of 50-thousand.
