Opposition Liberals and business groups are denouncing the N-D-P government’s handling of the Trans Mountain pipeline after Kinder Morgan suspended all non-essential work and spending on the project. The company cited the B-C government’s opposition to the expansion for its decision — which the B-C Chamber of Commerce says has “seismic” implications for investment in the province. The chamber and the B-C Business Council say that if the federally-approved project isn’t built, it will undermine the credibility of Canada’s regulatory and project approval systems. Liberal leader Andrew Wilkinson adds that Premier John Horgan has ignored the rule of law over the Trans Mountain pipeline — but Horgan says he will not back away from defending provincial interests.
