An outbreak of norovirus that has left about 40 people sick has led to the closure of two oyster farms in B-C. The B-C Centre for Disease Control says in all cases of the acute stomach illness reported since early March, people had eaten raw B-C oysters. Federal authorities ordered the closure of the oyster farms, although it has not identified them. It’s believed human sewage in the water is the most likely cause of shellfish contamination and the centre says it does not recommend anyone eat raw oysters.
