B-C’s Attorney General says the structure of a fall referendum on electoral reform in the province will allow everyone to participate equally. David Eby made 18 recommendations to cabinet on the vote, suggesting residents be asked if they want to switch to proportional representation to elect members of the legislature, or keep the first-past-the-post system. The two-part ballot would also give voters three options for proportional representation and they would be asked to rank them. B-C Liberal Leader Andrew Wilkinson called the N-D-P government’s idea — quote — “alphabet soup” saying it will rig the game and make one-party majority governments rare or extinct in the province.
