A pilot has been killed but his three passengers — including a pre-school-aged boy — are not seriously hurt after the plane went down near Sechelt, on the Sunshine Coast.
It happened yesterday afternoon moments after the Cherokee Piper took off from the Sechelt airport.
The male pilot and another adult male were aboard for the sightseeing flight, along with a teenaged girl and the young boy, but Sechelt fire Chief Trevor Pike says the passengers were able to get out of the plane before rescuers arrived.
A cause of the crash is under investigation.
