Recorded whale sounds were enough to lure a lone orca that had been roaming a busy Vancouver Island harbour for several days back to the open ocean. The large male killer whale had been entertaining hundreds of people on the shoreline, who had been watching the animal swimming and leaping from the water. Department of Fisheries and Oceans spokesman Paul Cottrell says officials decided to try the whale calls to get the animal to leave the harbour for its own safety and that of the public.
