
MARS (Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society) will be hosting it's 7th annual Bald Eagle Festival at the Maritime Heritage Centre in Campbell River on Saturday, February 25th. This year boasts four guest speakers, covering a variety of topics as well as many interesting displays.
While we're getting set to celebrate, MARS is also inviting submissions for the Photo Tech Foto Source annual photography contest. Enter your best photos of birds and other native wildlife for a chance to win great prizes. Submissions can be dropped off as an image file on a memory stick or CD to Photo Tech Foto Source - #110-1260 Shoppers Row in Campbell River. Deadline to enter is February 22nd at 5:00 p.m.
Youth (13 and Under) Category is $5 per photo to enter
Adult (14 and Over) Category is $10 per photo to enter
Winners will be chosen by popular vote at the Bald Eagle Festival.
All money collected will go to support MARS with the work of rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife.
Youth Category Prizes:
1st Prize: 21X24 canvas gallery wrap of their winning photo
2nd Prize: a GorillaPod flexible Tripod stand
3rd Prize: A T-Shirt, printed with image of winner's choosing
Adult Category Prizes:

An additional 'Best in Fest' photograph will be selected by a panel of judges to receive the 'Beethoven Award' in memory of the late Jim Dubois, a local wildlife and photography enthusiast who left us in 2011. The winner of this award will be invited to attend the release of a raptor.
