A 29 year old male has been arrested in relation to the fatal hit and run in Merville on November 1st. An 18 year old pedestrian was struck just north on the Merville store on Highway 19A, closing the highway for about 10 hours. Several leads from the public were followed up during this time. An observant ferry passenger, who had heard about the incident through social media, called RCMP to report a vehicle with extensive front end damage heading towards the lower mainland. The driver of the vehicle was subsequently arrested for Criminal Negligence Causing Death and Failing to Remain at the Scene of an Accident.
