BC Hydro has increased the water flow from the Campbell River reservoir system into the John Hart dam. Spokesperson Stephen Watson says the reservoir is near capacity. “With all the rain we have had in October, the Campbell River system has been able to absorb all those inflows” continues Watson. He states the upper Campbell Buttle lake has reservoir has come up about 4 m since October 12th. With more storms in the forecast, BC Hydro is initiating a flood risk managing spill to make room in the system. People are advised to stay clear of the Campbell River over the next week, especially near Elk Falls. Watson says the river will be rushing more than 10 times faster than normal, and could be increased to about 25 times it’s normal flow speed.
