BC Ferries has launched an initiative to reduce the company’s environmental footprint and improve the sustainability of operations. VP of Customer Service Corrine Storey says the SeaForward program will include initiatives such as the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup. They are looking at both an employee and corporate event such as recycling and composting at all the terminals and all vessels. “We are also in partnership with the BC Citation Siting Network,” states Storey. “What that is, is tracking whales in our service territory and their behavior. So the captains on our ships are recording if they see a whale, where they see it, and sending that information to the network.” BC Ferries plans to monitor the initiatives to determine their impact.
