The Comox Valley RCMP took in more than 40 weapons last month as part of the province’s gun amnesty program. Constable Rob Gardner says most of the weapons received were firearms. “We received 30 calls of people who wanted to turn in weapons that they had,” Gardner states. He says about 40 weapons where taken in, everything from long rifles to pistols and some BB guns. “We also had one sword that was turned in and a lot of miscellaneous ammunition,” Gardner continues. Residence can still hand in unwanted weapons by calling the RCMP.
