Canadian Blood Services is trying to get more people to donate blood. Territorial Manager Trudy Goels says the agency has targeted trying to get 3,000 new donors by the end of the year. She says “Right now, about 1 in 2 Canadians are eligible to give blood but only 1 in 60 actually come out to give.” She continues saying all blood collected goes into a national inventory. “So we make sure that the blood that gets collected goes where it’s needed,” states Goels. “It doesn’t matter if we collect enough in one city, there is always going to be enough to supply that city. So it may stay in your community, or it may help someone else.” You can learn more about donating at blood.ca
