The BC Provincial Government has given North Island College more than $213,149 to support adult literacy programs. Acting VP for Learning and Students Tony Bellavia says the programs help adults with low reading, writing, and math skills. “Within the North Island College region we support and work with literacy organizations in Bella Coola, here in Courtenay, Port Alberni, and also the Campbell River area,” states Bellavia. He says each program is tailored to meet the needs of those enrolled in the program. NIC is one of 85 communities throughout BC to receive the funding.
