School districts in the Comox Valley and Campbell River have received funding from the province for the Youth Work in Trades program. Comox Valley MLA Don McRae says the school districts will share a combined total of $50-thousand dollars. “This money will help students in grades 10, 11, and 12 transition into trades training and apprenticeship programs,” states McRae. “Nothing makes school better for students then when they see a real mean in what they are doing, and there’s a lot of students in our community that see a huge opportunity in employment and growth in the trades sector.” Youth Work in Trades program enables students to begin their apprenticeship training and earn credits toward their high school diploma.
