Premier Christy Clark has announced a new program that offers first-time homebuyers an interest free loan of up to 37-thousand-500 dollars. Province will provide the funds via a 25-year loan that is interest-free and payment-free for the first five years — as long as the funds have been matched by buyers. Clark says the aim is to help people who can afford the mortgage payments on a new home but are having trouble getting a down payment together. The maximum purchase price of a qualifying home is 750-thousand dollars and the program is only being offered to those who’ve been Canadian citizens or permanent residents for at least five years and have lived in B-C for a year.
