Quebec City’s mayor says “this magnificent city, is in mourning.” Regis Labeaume’s comment followed last night’s deadly shooting attack on a mosque in Quebec City’s Ste-Foy neighbourhood. Police say six people were killed, eight were injured, and 39 others survived unharmed — at least physically. Provincial police spokeswoman Christine Coulombe says two suspects were arrested shortly after the attack, which has been deemed an act of terrorism by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard. Couillard says there will be solidarity rallies across Quebec today to support the province’s Muslim community. A joint terrorism task force that includes provincial police, R-C-M-P and Montreal police has been deployed to investigate.
