I-C-B-C is warning people with long-weekend travel plans to be careful in the wintery conditions. The insurance corporation says during the Family Day weekend last year, more than 2-thousand crashes occurred resulting in over 540 people injured. The corporation says the volume of crashes goes up on both long weekends and during snow storms, meaning drivers should take extra precautions the weekend. Drivers should ensure their cars are winter-ready, know their routes, adjust their driving to the conditions and minimize distractions by keeping electronics — especially cellphone — tucked away while on the road.
