The B-C Liberals have introduced legislation targeting irresponsible dog and cat breeders. Proposed amendments to B-C’s Prevention to Cruelty of Animals Act would allow the province to regulate commercial breeders through a registration or licensing system. Details have not yet been unveiled, but the province says the proposed amendments would allow an external agency to inspect breeding facilities and apply for a warrant to enter a property if necessary. The move comes after the B-C S-P-C-A removed more than 100 dogs and other animals from Lower Mainland breeders last year.
