Canada’s health minister says she’s frustrated that some provinces and territories haven’t provided data on overdose deaths in the midst of an unprecedented crisis. Jane Philpott says she wants to release statistics on fatal overdoses in Canada, but some jurisdictions don’t have records on drug-related deaths that occurred after 2014. Only B-C and Alberta publicly report overdose deaths on a regular basis, and police and health officials in Ontario have criticized the province for failing to provide up-to-date statistics on opioid overdoses. Philpott says in order to get ahead of the growing overdose problem, an extraordinary response is needed from every jurisdiction across Canada
