Bear season has started again — but the wet spring is keeping some of them out of residential areas. Frank Ritcey with Wildsafe B-C says the animals are mostly motivated by food and the wet weather has provided lots of green grass for bears to eat. However, Ritcey says residents should be securing any potential food sources now, such as garbage, or bird feeders. He says most bears aren’t aggressive, but they can be defensive if you get too close to their cubs.
