When B-C’s politicians return to the legislature on June 22nd the first order of business will be a tall one — selecting a Speaker. But the narrow election results mean none of the three parties will be eager to give up one of their voting members to take on the role. Premier Christy Clark has said she expects to lose a confidence vote in the house after the New Democrats and Greens reached an agreement to allow the N-D-P to form a minority government. Last month’s election left the Liberals with 43 seats in the 87-seat legislature, the N-D-P with 41 and the Greens three, spelling the likely end for the Liberals’ 16 years in government.
