B-C’s Liberal House Leader Mike de Jong says his party will not prop up an N-D-P minority government in the legislature by providing a Speaker. N-D-P Leader John Horgan has suggested that if his party formed a minority government with the support of the Greens, a Liberal Speaker could remain in the seat to avoid tie votes in the legislature. De Jong calls that request “bizarre” and says it shows how desperate the N-D-P and Greens are. He also denied their accusations that the Liberals are deliberately delaying things, saying the legislative session will begin early compared to other May elections.
