Residents of the Village of Cache Creek will be allowed to return to the community on Tuesday after spending 11 days out of their homes. They were evacuated on July 7th by the Ashcroft fire, which is the province’s largest single blaze at 520 square kilometres. Officials with the Thompson-Nicola Regional District say the blaze continues to grow and burn out of control, but the imminent threat to Cache Creek has diminished. The village has a population of more than 1,000 people and the district says many residents have been staying in Kamloops.
