More than 75 homes have been destroyed by wildfires burning across the province since the beginning of July. Cariboo Regional District Chairman Al Richmond says staff have counted 41 homes that have been lost in rural areas throughout the region –and that number may go up because there are several properties officials haven’t been able to access due to fire activity. Another eight homes were lost in the Central Okanagan region last weekend and almost three dozen trailers were razed when fire raced through the Boston Flats trailer park next to Cache Creek early this month.
