B-C Hydro says it set a record for summer power consumption Monday night when peak hourly demand — the hour that customers use the most electricity — reached 7-thousand 851 megawatts. Mora Scott with the utility says the new summer record breaks a previous one set three years ago. She says the utility does have enough capacity to handle the extra load. But B-C Hydro is still urging people to conserve power by shading your window, using ceiling fans, hanging your laundry to dry, and using the barbecue instead of the oven, when possible.
