B-C’s premier says he still believes government can bring in a 15-dollar minimum wage by 2021, despite the New Democrats announcing last week that they were tossing the deadline. John Horgan says other jurisdictions like Alberta and Ontario are moving quickly to increase minimum wage and B-C has to keep the pace. He says his government is working with the Green party to put together a Fair Wage Commission, which will try to raise wages without harming businesses. Last month, the N-D-P announced the minimum wage would go up by fifty cents in September to 11 dollars and 35 cents, before eventually climbing to 15 dollars per hour.
