Off-road vehicles will once again be allowed in much of B-C’s backcountry today as the risk of wildfire drops across the province. A ban on A-T-Vs and other off-road vehicles was put in place this summer, when hot, dry conditions persisted and made it easier for wildfires to spread quickly. The B-C Wildfire Service says cooler weather and precipitation have significantly reduced the chance of sparks or hot engines causing a fire and the prohibition will be lifted at noon today. But the agency is reminding people that there are still some places where fires are being fought, and the use of off-road vehicles is still restricted in those areas.
