Premier John Horgan says B-C’s current first-past-the-post electoral system is unfair. Under legislation introduced today by his government, a referendum could be held next year to decide if a form of proportional representation should be used instead. The referendum would be conducted by mail-in ballot and the proposal would need the support of 50 per cent, plus one, of those who vote. Attorney General David Eby says the referendum must be held no later than November 30th, 2018.
