An economics professor from Simon Fraser University has been tapped to lead a commission that will advise the province on boosting its minimum wage to 15 dollars an hour. Marjorie Griffin Cohen will chair the Fair Wages Commission, which is expected to deliver a report within 90 days of its first meeting. The report is to offer a timeline for raising the minimum wage. The N-D-P had previously set a deadline of 2021 but Labour Minister Harry Bains says that will now be up to the commission to determine.
