Tuesday marks the 20-year anniversary since the murder of Victoria-area teenager Reena Virk. Virk was 14 years old on November 14, 1997, when she was swarmed and beaten by a group of young people at a bridge along the Gorge waterway in Victoria. Six girls were convicted of assault and Warren Glowatski and Kelly Ellard who were also teens at the time were convicted of second-degree murder for their part in Virk’s drowning after the attack. Virk’s father, Manjit Virk, will speak at his daughter’s memorial this afternoon near the bridge where his daughter died, and Education Minister Rob Fleming will talk about the fight against bullying.
