Torrential downpours have eased across southern B-C as the latest storm system moves on, but soggy conditions persist and Environment Canada says another round of heavy rain is due to hit the south coast on Tuesday. Eighty millimetres of rain deluged Port Alberni on Sunday while the weather office says 79 millimetres fell in Squamish and 55 millimetres was recorded in Courtenay and Comox. The Comox Valley Regional District and Island Health have issued a boil water notice to all 45-thousand residents on the Comox Valley water system because the heavy rain has made drinking water murky, possibly interfering with the disinfection process. Until further notice, residents in the City of Courtenay, Town of Comox and several nearby areas are advised to boil their water for at least one minute.
