Premier John Horgan says the best decision for the future of the province is to complete the controversial Site C hydroelectric dam. Horgan says the province had to choose between going ahead with the project at an higher estimated cost of 10.7-billion dollars, or taking a four-billion dollar hit for construction costs already sunk into the hydroelectric dam on the Peace River. He says cancellation would have resulted in the province foregoing necessary infrastructure projects, including schools, bridges and hospitals. Horgan concedes some people — including some of his friends — will be very disappointed by the decision but says his government has come to the conclusion that proceeding is the best way forward.
