B-C is the latest province to provide free access to the so-called abortion pill. The province says women will be able to receive Mifegymiso — or R-U four-86 — at no cost starting January 15th. The drug can be used to terminate a pregnancy in the first nine weeks and patients wanting a prescription must get an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy is not ectopic, or outside of the uterus. B-C is the sixth province to provide universal access to the pill after it was approved by Health Canada in 2015.
