Africans woke this morning to find U-S President Donald Trump had finally taken an interest in their continent — but it wasn’t what they wanted to hear. During a bi-partisan immigration meeting yesterday, Trump reportedly lamented the U-S accepting more immigrants from Haiti and — quote — “shithole countries” — in Africa, rather than places like Norway. African governments found themselves in an awkward position because as top recipients of U-S aid, some hesitated to jeopardize it by criticizing Trump. A spokesman for South Sudan’s government, which benefits from U-S aid money, said they had no comment since the vulgar slur was not aimed specifically at their country.
