B-C’s minority N-D-P government says in its speech from the throne that its ultimate goal is affordability for those who live in the province. Lieutenant-Governor Judith Guichon read the government’s speech, which identified housing as the greatest challenge to British Columbia’s affordability. The government’s plans include addressing housing demand and stabilizing out-of-control real estate prices and rental markets. The speech also says the government will begin moving toward affordable, quality child care by converting unlicensed spaces to licensed, regulated care so more parents can benefit.
