Heavy in Canadian content, “The Shape of Water” fared the best at the Academy Awards, winning four Oscars — including best picture. Toronto producer J. Miles Dale shared the best-picture Oscar with Director Guillermo del Toro. Dale says he feels “ecstatic” about his win and harbours no ill feelings after his speech was spoiled by play-off music. After del Toro spoke onstage, Dale tried to say a few words but was drowned out by music. The film, shot in Toronto and Hamilton, also won Oscars for best original score, best director, and best production design for Canadians Paul Austerberry, Jeffrey A. Melvin and Shane Vieau.
