Provincial health officials say they’re dealing with an extremely rare cholera outbreak on Vancouver Island. Island Health says four people in the Qualicum Bay area have fallen ill, after eating herring eggs harvested in the area. Medical health officer Shannon Waters says symptoms include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea leading to extreme dehydration. She warned the public against eating herring eggs fond on kelp, seaweed or other surfaces that have been harvested from the French Creek to Qualicum Bay area.
