For the first time in a decade, British Columbians increased their energy use during Earth Hour on Saturday. B-C Hydro says power-use rose by 0.2 per cent across the province compared with the same time a week before. Spokeswoman Susie Rieder says it could be because of cold temperatures in many parts of the province, or because interest is waning in the campaign. Earth Hour is an annual World Wildlife Fund event, where people around the world turn their lights off for one hour to draw attention to climate change.
