The B-C Health Coalition is welcoming the government’s announcement that it’s increasing the number of M-R-I exams that will be done across the province. Edith MacHattie — who co-chairs the coalition — says for too long, B-C has allowed public M-R-I wait times to grow while allowing a market for private M-R-I clinics to flourish. MacHattie says more money spent to increase the number of M-R-Is that can be done in the public health system will also help reduce waits for surgery. Health Minister Adrian Dix says 37-thousand more M-R-I’s will be done by this time next year in the public system.
