B-C’s police watchdog is investigating after a man was killed during an attempted arrest by R-C-M-P at a Nanaimo ferry terminal. Mounties say shots were fired after officers were called to the Departure Bay terminal today to arrest a male in connection with a “violent” carjacking in another part of the province. They say initial information based on police accounts indicate the male had got out of the vehicle with what was believed to be a firearm. The ferry terminal is the main access route between the mainland and central Vancouver Island.
