B-C’s 34-thousands CUPE school support workers have turned down a tentative contract agreement reached with the province last week. Local union president Nicole Edmondson says the failure to ratify the deal was a surprise and disappointing and they’ll now head back to the negotiating table. Edmondson says it was clear the deal on the table was not good enough for most because workers who believe they have been falling further behind on wages and working conditions. She says failing to ratify a vote is rare and the union now has to meet to determine next steps.
