Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will lead a cabinet retreat on Wednesday on Vancouver Island, where he and his key ministers will discuss plans for the fall sitting of Parliament. Among the agenda items will be looking at ways to beef up measures to protect elections from foreign interference — specifically, how to ensure foreign money is not involved in trying to influence how Canadians vote. The federal cabinet retreat in Nanaimo is taking place as B-C deals with a province-wide wildfire emergency. After arriving in the city yesterday, Trudeau met with Premier John Horgan to discuss the hundreds of wildfires burning in the province, and will meet with firefighters and evacuees in Prince George on Thursday.
