As Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his ministers continue with their two-day cabinet retreat in Nanaimo, hundreds of pot-banging pipeline protesters have used the opportunity to accuse Trudeau of fiddling “while B-C burns.” Carrying signs reading “Climate Leaders Don’t Buy Pipelines,” demonstrators gathered at the retreat venue yesterday and questioned how Trudeau can claim to be concerned about climate change while spending 4.5-billion dollars to buy the Trans Mountain pipeline. Nanaimo New Democrat M-P Sheila Malcolmson says the Liberal determination to get the pipeline expansion built is “a betrayal of everything Trudeau campaigned for.”
